An LDS Conversation
A daily log of the Lord’s blessings in my life!Another Sick Day
Well, I thought Ben was all better, but turns out he was sick again today.
So today I am grateful for modern diapers and plumbing. Ben was all sorts of messy this evening and I was able to get him cleaned up in no time. I won’t go into details, but I am just glad that I have things that make my life a little easier when I take care of my baby.
We were able to watch some tributes to President Hinckley today on the TV. I love to hear about his life and all he has done. John said something of interest to me too. He said that it is funny to think that when we get a new prophet he is someone we have been listening to for years and years, but when the Catholic church gets a new pope, people don’t know who it is going to be and then they don’t really know who he is once he becomes the pope. Very interesting. Cause it is so true. I have always loved President Monson and his talks. I know you aren’t supposed to have favorites, but he is one of my favorites.
And that is all for tonight. I have to get some rest so I can take care of my sick baby tomorrow. Hopefully he won’t be sick, but you just never know.
Friends as blessings
God usually uses those around us to answer our prayers. He can also use us in the same way. Today I was blessed to go with my little family to a basketball game and see a friend of mine from AK. She coaches in the conference that our local schools are in so she came to town today for the game. It was great to see her and to spend time with John.
He started asking me about how she ranked among my friends. I thought it was a funny question and told him I didn’t rank my friends. He proceeded to say well, if this person asked you to a party and this person did that same night and so did this other one??? He is too funny. I told him that would never happen. One of them would have had to ask me first and I would have to go to the party where I had already committed to. Anyway, it was just funny to think about. Then he said, I would go to Levi’s party. Ha. Levi is his life long buddy. Of course he would go to his party. He’s funny.
Ben was sick yesterday and he is feeling better today. That is a blessing. He is so stinking cute! I am grateful for the time where I get to cuddle with him cause he isn’t feeling good and he wants to be held, but I am grateful that it didn’t last too long and that he is better now.
A good meal
Today my blessing was being able to cook a good meal. I made some blackened chicken pizza and it was delicious. I mentioned that Coach Hensen told me to cook more, so I went to my cookbook and cooked something. I am very glad that it was yummy. I gain confidence when I do things well.
I was also able to get a good night’s rest last night. Ben slept in a bit and I was able to get him up at 7:40. I also read him some scriptures during breakfast. I got to spend the whole day with him. He is super cute. He learned that certain holes in his shape sorting bucket fit certain shapes. He would put the circle in and then take the lid off, grab the circle and put it back into the same hole. I usually have to cover the other holes for him so he will put it in the right one. But not today. He did it all on his own and I was teaching him blue circle.
Today was a great day. I was also blessed with energy and happiness and patience.
Just being with Ben
Today was a normal day for me. The blessing I want to share is just being able to be with my son today. He woke up at 6:00 and wasn’t too happy about being awake. I tried to see if he’d go back to sleep, but he didn’t so I was up at 6:30 with him. He is just such a cute boy. I am so very blessed to have him in my life. I love his smile. I love his laugh and his playfulness. He is so stinking cute.
I am blessed to have him in my life.
Ok, Change of Plans
I decided that I can’t always post here about the lesson. It hasn’t been working out. So, I am going to write down things that I want to write down, namely how the Lord has blessed me in the day. Elder Eyring gave a talk about always writing down how the Lord had blessed him that day. That is what I want to do. I can do that everyday.
Today I was blessed to come home to my baby who I had been away from for four days. He is even happier than when I left.
I was blessed to go to the gym with my sister and run/walk two miles. I am very blessed with health and strength.
I was blessed to make it home safely on the plane.
Yesterday (since my post got lost when I tried to post it and then it was too late to write I will comment on that), I was blessed to spend half the day with Coach Hensen. I love spending just one on one time with her. She blessed my life by helping me to realize that I am a wife and a mother who needs to be cooking for my hubby and son. I am going to try to start planning meals and cooking. Also, she helped me realize that I should be doing this too. It is just so good to talk to her. She is one of those people in my life that I listen to. She really lights a fire in my belly!!
(That is something she would always say when she coached me)
I spent the evening/weekend just me and John. We had like a second honeymoon. How fun!
I received an order from my sister-in-law for the new Mary Kay Mineral Foundation and some other things. Yeay! Blessings!
That is all for now. I am really hoping this will turn into something great. A blessing-o-rama.
A Challenge
The challenge is found at www.hinckleychallenge.com
The challenge is to read the Book of Mormon in 97 days in honor of President Hinckley. Check it out!!!!
I am doing it. I am not sure how this will effect my postings, but we’ll just have to see.
I did read chapter 20 today and I love the part where he explains that a mother cannot forget her sucking child just as Jesus will never forget us. He has graven us on His palms. He will never forget us! What a glorious piece of knowledge.
President Hinckley’s Funeral Services Today
Today John and I had the privilege to watch President Hinckley’s funeral services via an internet feed. It was so touching to hear the men who have served with him in the First Presidency and also others talk of him and his goodness. President Monson spoke of their friendship and how he had known President Hinckley before they served together. He had known him over 44 years. Both John and I were just astonished by that number. What a long time to have known someone. President Hinckley and his wife were married like 60+ years. President Monson said that a day didn’t go by after she died that President Hinckley didn’t miss her. I bet.
President Hinckley was a wonderful man. They showed a special tribute to him after the service and the things he accomplished are just amazing. He was a true servant of the Lord. He really got out there and did the work. He is an inspiration to me and should be to everyone. I just wanted to remember him again on this, the day of his funeral. God bless him and his family.
Two important points
In this chapter, there is a verse that stood out to me. It says,
11 For thus spake the prophet: The Lord God surely shall visit all the house of Israel at that day, some with his voice, because of their righteousness, unto their great joy and salvation, and others with the thunderings and the lightnings of his power, by tempest, by fire, and by smoke, and vapor of darkness, and by the opening of the earth, and by mountains which shall be carried up.
I love it when I read the scriptures and my mind is taken to another point in the scriptures. This one takes me to 3 Nephi 8-10. Christ has died and the people who are wicked are destroyed and the more righteous are spared. They all hear the voice of the Lord after the horrible tempests and such.
I just love when one part of the scriptures is related to another and that I can think of where it is off the top of my head.
Oh, and the other scripture that is great in this chapter is verse 19 where Nephi tells us to liken the scriptures unto ourselves. Oh yeah. Scripture mastery! Liken Scriptures! What a great lesson that we can learn from Nephi.
1 Nehpi 19
Well, I was sitting in bed playing puzzle quest (best game and so addicting) when the thought came into my head that I hadn’t read scriptures today or posted on here. I thought, Oh I’ll just let it go. But you know what! No. I am not going to let it slide, cause one time of that and there is more. Plus it is the last day of January and I have not missed a day. I have to post. I am just barely getting it in today too.
I read the first five verses, that is all I have time to post about. Nephi was commanded to make the record of his people. I love that he writes that he doesn’t know why he is writing the, but the Lord knows and it is a wise purpose in Him. Everyone has been asked to keep a journal. I heard a talk about journal writing a while ago that I really liked. A dad had kept a journal of the ways the Lord blessed his family’s life. Then he gave a copy of it to each one of his kids. I really liked that idea. Then, they are able to see how the Lord blesses us when they need it most.
So, I write!
I have written in my journal pretty consistently for the past five or six years. Maybe more. I am happy about that. That is all for tonight.

The shipped is finished and they sail to the promise land.
Now, here is another time when Laman and Lemuel are faithless and try to harm Nephi. Man, they just never quit. They tie him up and a big storm comes. People try to talk them into letting Nephi go, but they will not. Finally, the power of the Lord loosens the bands and he is free. The storm is calmed and the ball works again according to Nephi’s faith.
They arrive safely in the promised land and find plenty to fulfill their needs.
They made it.
