1 Nephi Chapter 15
Nephi knew that the things which his father had told him were hard to understand and that is why he had inquired of the Lord to know of those things. Well, he asked his brothers Laman and Lemuel if they had inquired of the Lord and they said, no.
Their hearts were too hard to think the Lord would show unto them these things. But Nephi’s heart was in the right place, he was humble before the Lord. It is a common theme in the Book of Mormon to have your heart in the right place, to have a broken heart and a contrite spirit.
When all is said and done, it is the desires of your heart that mean something. If you do good and you do it because your heart wants to, that is better than doing good only because someone told you too and your heart is really somewhere else.
Put your heart into everything you do. You will be better for it.
