An LDS Conversation

A daily log of the Lord’s blessings in my life!

Day 1-What it’s all about

I just read something from Elder Ballard to the students at BYU-Hawaii. He said that they need to get involved in the conversation on the internet about the church. Well, I am getting in on the conversation with my own little blog of how things are. Or something. A key part of the article states:

“We cannot stand on the sidelines while others, including our critics, attempt to define what the Church teaches,” he said.

“While some conversations have audiences in the thousands or even millions, most are much, much smaller. But all conversations have an impact on those who participate in them. Perceptions of the Church are established one conversation at a time.”

So what I am going to do as part of my new year’s resolutions is to start a conversation. One of my resolutions is to study the Book of Mormon along with the Sunday School study schedule. Those of you who are reading this that are LDS know what I mean, but those who are not, every year we as a church study a book of scripture. This year in one of the hours of our three hour meeting we will be studying the Book of Mormon. And those of you who go to church every week know that many people still don’t study the study guide before they go to class. They just go passively. I am going to change that. I am going not passively, but actively.

I am going to study everyday and have a conversation here. I am making it my goal this year to study and ponder for a half hour every morning. I am trying to make my new year’s resolutions a routine in my life. A habit if you will. Last year, I made some, many of which I cannot remember. One I do. I wanted to write Kamie Jo two letters every week and send an e-mail each week too. Well, I pretty much did it. Up until this month when things got so busy and hectic, I did it and it felt good to get it done. So to get this one done, I am making it a blog. I then can track how many days I posted on here. Accountability is a big thing in reaching one’s goals.

So today is just the start of it and please tune in each day to read what I have to say. Join the conversation. :) I will be posting most likely in the mornings after Ben goes down for his nap. So it will be up and new everyday by like noon (MST). So hopefully this will benefit not only me but a limitless number of people.
